AI introduces risks that most existing governance frameworks weren't designed to handle. Internal governance for AI isn't about slowing things down or adding bureaucracy - it's about creating structures that let you move quickly with appropriate guardrails. This means clear policies about how AI can and can't be used, defined accountability for AI decisions, processes for assessing and mitigating risks before deployment, and ongoing monitoring after systems go live.
